Throwback Thursday: Magic In The Stars

Celebrating the start of a new Disney on Ice Season -- in Japan!

The 2025-26 domestic Disney on Ice season is still a few weeks away from taking its starting position (50 days to be exact, but who’s counting? Oh, wait. I am.). But tours are going strong overseas, including Magic in the Stars (D37), which began its tour of Japan today — or technically “tonight” in Yurihonjo.

One question I frequently get from people about Disney on Ice is “will my kids enjoy it?” To which I answer: “I don’t know, go ask someone who has kids!”

No, I’m kidding. Typically I’ll tell parents that if their kids enjoy Disney characters, particularly seeing them at the parks, then they’ll enjoy a Disney on Ice show. But if there’s any show I’d recommend bringing your family to, it’s this one (though probably not if you have to fly your family all the way to Japan this season).

It sounds cliche, but this show truly does have something for everyone. I tend to focus on the Disney Princesses in my Instagram posts, but this show has a bit of everything. There are segments dedicated to “Encanto” and “Aladdin” as well as a great “Toy Story” routine. There’s even a “Cars” appearance. Yes, you can see Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater on ice!

This show was also the first to have a “Frozen 2” segment, rather than “Frozen,” and you’ll see Elsa skate to “Into the Unknown.” This was also the show where both Raya from “Raya and the Last Dragon” and Asha from “Wish” made their Disney on Ice debuts back in 2023.

Sadly, I haven’t been able to see this show in person since early 2024. Its domestic tour last season didn’t bring it anywhere near the East Coast, and now its overseas. But I am still excited about the five shows in the U.S. this season, and I’m also excited for all my friends in this show who get to visit Japan!
